An image of a story was circulated on WhatsApp and other social media forums, the headline of the story reads this; Nigerians should not complain I have sent 5,000 to all Nigerians using their BVN by Olusegun Obasanjo. The story can be found here and here
VERIFICATION
The news was verified from the Manager of Programme and News Department at Channels TV, who Patrick Orlu who refuted the claim that Ex-president was interviewed by Channels on April 14th, 2020.
We are also saying once again if government wants to give Nigerians money they would follow the National Social Register (NSR) and it’s only those in their register will receive the money so the issue that the Ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo is giving out money is not true.
Former President Obasanjo’s Spokesperson, Kehinde Adeyemi debunked the news.
People’s check implores Nigerians not to be too quick to believe and send broadcast messages they receive from any other social platforms until it’s verified.
