FULL TEXT

A viral broadcast message embedded with a link claimed that RCCG is giving free N5000 to Christians around the world to sustain them. This is coming at a time when people are desperately in need of aid to ease the burden of Covid-19.
The broadcast message claimed that the money is available for just a few individuals and on a first-come, first-serve basis. It also claimed that once the conditions have been fulfilled, individuals will be credited once.

A click showed that the website is actually cglivecovid19.blogspot.com. Visitors at the website are asked to answer questions like Are you a bonafide citizen of RCCG? How much do you need? What will you use the money for?
Respondents would have to share to seven WhatsApp groups, and then go back to input their bank account details to receive the fund. This has been known to be the latest means fraudsters use to swindle unsuspected Nigerians of their cash.
VERIFICATION
People’s Check placed a call through to the office of General Overseer, Pastor E. A. Adeboye and it confirmed the claim to be fraudulent, that the church is currently not doing such and the public should disregard it.
After the call, the Public Relations department of RCCG posted a disclaimer on their Social media account.

The general public is hereby advised that the claim of RCCG giving N5000 to Christians as an aid during Covid-19 is false and fraudulent.
